Is AIT, Raypower license suspension politically motivated?

On Thursday, the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) issued a statement suspending the activities of Daar Communications indefinitely.

The company runs Africa Independent Television and Raypower FM. Hours after the shut down, military men storm their office to shut it down.

The chairman of Daar Communications, Raymond Dokpesi is card carrying member of opposition PDP.

Hynaija on Thursday reported the allegations levied against AIT and Ray Power FM which includes breaching broadcasting codes.

Reacting to the decision of the government, Shehu Sani, senator representing Kaduna Central took to Twitter to describe the action as “politically motivated.”

“The suspension of @AIT_Online is an utterly condemnable act.”

“The suspension is politically motivated.”

“Its an act of ingratitude and treachery to strangulate the very media outlet that has played a pivotal role in the struggle for the restoration and defense of democracy”, he tweeted
