Benjamin Apugo Accuses INEC Of Working For PDP In Abia State

The Independent National Electoral Commission has been called out by a member of the Board of Trustees of the All Progressives Congress, Benjamin Apugo.

Apugo had alleged that the electoral body did not handle the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections in Abia State properly.

While speaking with Daily Post in Umuahia, the state capital, he claimed that the election was hijacked by the Peoples Democratic Party.

“For the mere fact that the governor here is PDP and there are INEC staff who have been with the commission for the past 12 years, they have been working with PDP. They (PDP) went and write results in its favour.”

He took the opportunity to congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari on his re-election, he called on the President to run all-inclusive administration in the interest of Nigerians.

“Buhari has to carry everybody along. Everybody in this country belongs to him. He is not the oldest, he is a father of all.”

“Mr President should continue and not relent in fighting corruption. There are some candidates who brought out money for them to return, they should be dealt decisively”.

Austin Okezie Meregini, a chieftain of APC has called out the Peoples Democratic Party of planning to rig the election in the state.

Meregini assured the people of the state that their votes will be protected on Saturday, he called on the people to stand against fake promises.

Meregini expressed confidence that the electoral umpire (INEC) will do the needful by conducting a transparent election, urging them to cast their votes to APC in the interest of Abia state.

“We will not allow them to rig elections, because, APC is poised to bring democratic dividends to the doorsteps of Abia people.”

“We have all the machinery to stop election rigging. APC believes in democracy, and promising that if elected into the green chamber, the developmental project will be my first priority”.
