President Muhammadu Buhari has been called on by the Inter-Party Advisory Council to order military out of River State ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
IPAC in Rivers State made their position known on Thursday calling on Buhari to order the military to stay clear of the state so has to enhance democracy in the coming elections.
The spokesman of IPAC in the state, Kukang Ledum Joseph, stated this during a press briefing with newsmen in Harcourt on Thursday
“We call on President Muhammadu Buhari to order military out of River state ahead of forthcoming governorship election”.
“The army has become a threat to peaceful, free and credible elections as well as to the survival of democracy in the state”.
“The army should stay away from election duties in the state in order to allow the police to perform their constitutional responsibilities for peaceful and credible elections.”
