Security Guard Allegedly Attack Worshippers in Osun State

The Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State has been thrown into disarray after some security guards working in the area attacked people going for early morning prayers in a mosque around Halleluyah Estate.

According to, a source in the area where the incident took place revealed that it took place at around 5:30 am.

A resident of the area who was identified as Taiwo Olawoore, who was also going to the mosque stated that they heard several gunshots and people ran in different directions to escape being shot.

The spokesperson of the state police command, Folasade Odoro stated that a suspect has been arrested.

“We got a distress call from the area and we promptly responded. We made an arrest and the person arrested is being interrogated,” Odoro said.

She also revealed that the man that was apprehended was security man hired by the community to provide security at night.

He stated that the security guard was drunk and reportedly shot in the air and not at the worshipers going for prayers.

She said that the matter would be thoroughly investigated to prevent re-occurrence.
