Senator Heineken Lokpobiri (Ph.D.), a governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress has appointed Hon. Warman Weri Ogoriba as the campaign Director General and Ambassador Felix Oboro as the Deputy Director-General and Chairman, Elders Council of the Heineken Lokpobiri Campaign Organisation, in readiness for the flag off of his campaign.
According to Senator Lokpobiri, the decision to contest the Bayelsa State governorship election was borne out of his desire to rescue the state from obvious misrule by those entrusted with the Commonwealth of the people in recent dispensations.
He stated that he is in the race to add value to the lives of the suffering masses through effective governance in consonance with President Mohammadu Buhari’s vision of a corruption free country.
Senator Lokpobiri said he had consulted widely with stakeholders, and different interest groups especially women and youth organizations at the grassroots level.
The Aspirant noted that his entry into the governorship race is not to build a self-centered political empire based on self-aggrandizement but to contribute to the effective governance of the state for the benefit of the voiceless masses.
Senator Lokpobiri observed that after 16 years of the1 creation of Bayelsa state, the state still remains as an infant in the committee of states due largely to the deficit in visionary and patriotic leadership in recent times.
The Aspirant, a former speaker of the state house of assembly, a former distinguished senator and a former minister of state for agriculture, said, if elected, he will change the narrative of Bayelsa state for the common good of the people and for posterity.
He said he will equally bring his vast and diverse experience acquired over the years as a public servant to bear on his assignment.
His credentials, he opined, will serve as a veritable launch pad for all inclusive governance.
He stated that other members of the campaign organization will soon be made public after further consultations with critical stakeholders in the APC hierarchy.
