Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State has budgeted the sum of N14million for staging burial ceremonies.
According to Premium Time investigation, the newspaper said a copy of the state 2019 Appropriation Act revealed this.
In his defense, Onogwu Mohammed, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor said: “Requests come to the governor’s table from time to time, for assistance of families of bereaved staff, and he will need to assist the families for the burial.”
He also cited an instance of the death of the media staff in the governor’s office, whose burial would need to be supported.
Dino Melaye is planning to contest against Mr Bello in the next election expected to hold in January.
