The allegation raised by the Peoples Democratic Party against the Independent National Electoral Commission has received a reaction from the electoral body.
Recall that the major opposition party had accused the commission of replacing election servers in its headquarters and state offices across the federation.
PDP in a statement through it spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, had accused the Electoral body of replacing the actual result on it server.
INEC in its reaction to the allegation stated that the allegation as baseless and untrue.
The chief press secretary to the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Yakubu Mahmood, Rotimi Oyekanmi, stated that the commission will not exchange words with PDP because the matter is in court.
“The allegation is baseless and uncalled for. The [commission] has maintained that it will not join issues with the PDP in the media on a petition that the party had already filed in court, in respect of the 2019 presidential election.”
“Rather than issuing press statements and addressing press conferences on the same petition on a daily basis, the PDP should allow the legal process to run its full course.”
