Asuu News: Strike continues
School instructors said yesterday that their strike will go on — 89 days after it started.
This is disregarding the intercession by Vice President Namadi Sambo in carrying the instructors to the transaction table.
The educators are looking for legitimate financing of instruction and the installment of their N87 billion earned stipends.
These are part of the 2009 understanding between the educators and the legislature. The administration has offered N30 billion for the earned stipends and made accessible N100billion for ventures on the facilities. The teachers dismissed the offer. The strike has been on since July 1.
The most recent position of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the umbrella cooperation of the educators to run on with the strike, was made known yesterday by University of Lagos (UNILAG) section Chairman Dr. Karo Ogbinika, in a statement.
